Why infant formula?
A little over a year ago I read an article from our local food bank encouraging donations of formula.

“Many low-income parents feel they must resort to “formula stretching,” to keep their infants fed, even with government food assistance programs, a new study shows. Even though the majority of parents were receiving help through foods stamps and WIC, many did not have enough food to feed their families. In fact, some 65 percent of families ran out of WIC-supplied infant formula most months. And the result, in many cases, was that parents diluted or cut back on formula for their infants.” (Carroll)

While this isn’t the exact article, it covers the same information that has stuck with me. When I contacted the Maple Valley Food Bank they confirmed that formula is a very big need for them. As a parent, I simply can not imagine being in a situation where I had to water down my baby’s food. Together we can help stock their shelves.

Why small stuffed animals?
Recently I became a Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep affiliated photographer. NILMDTS provides the gift of remembrance photography for parents suffering the loss of a baby. During my regular newborn shoots, I usually capture an image of the baby with a stuffed animal. These images help remind the parents of their baby’s size. In remembrance photography, these stuffed animals will do the same, but also give the grieving parents something to take home with them. My best friend’s daughter was photographed with a cute giraffe, but had it not been for the Grandma they would not have had it. After all, most parents are not prepared for the unthinkable.

May I donate more than 1 can of formula/stuffed animal?
Absolutely! It is my hope that my super sweet clients will give 1 item per child photographed and if they are able, even more. I only ask for 1 donation per 10 minute session, but if you donate more, you will receive an additional FB image and print per item. You give more, I give more!
